Thandai recipe reminds me of my childhood memories when my mother and grandmother used to make on a hot summer day in India. Those days, as a kid I used to playfully help mom grind nuts and spices in our antique mortar and pestle. Thandai is made and consumed on an occasion of Shivratri or Holi festival. The emphasis of having this deliciously healthy Thandai on these festivals as it helps the body maintain good health during the season change and hot summers. Thandai acts as a natural cooling agent.

Authentic Thandai is made with nuts and spices which give us an instant boost of energy, helps improving immunity and digestion. Thandai is a rich drink; loaded with flavors and nutrients. Well, we all know that nuts, dry fruits, and spices are full of good nutrition but do we know the hidden Medicinal health benefits? Though I am not a Nutritionist or a Doctor these are common home remedies used in Indian household –

Poppy seeds – help relieve gastrointestinal irritation and also prevent constipation. This seed is also nutritious and is a good source of protein, fiber, calcium, and minerals.

Fennel Seeds and Rose Petals – It helps in cooling the body from the inside. Fennel seeds also help improve digestion and have anti-inflammatory properties
